Taylor Swift’s Lover: Opens at No.1 Billboard, A Must-Listen for this Year – Review of Taylor Swift’s Latest Album

Well, it seems that everyone has fallen in love with Taylor Swift’s new studio album, ‘Lover‘.
This is her seventh album in her 13 years in the music industry, and the most selling out of all her albums, breaking all album sales records in its first week of release.
The country turned pop singer-songwriter is one of the few artists who make their album releases feel like an event, and she has not disappointed her fans yet again. She has released a wide array of merchandise, from jewelry to apparel, and stickers and badges, as well as four deluxe editions albums which will include various pages from her personal diaries from her teenage years.
This is also the first album to which she holds the exclusive rights to. Her feud with Scooter Braun has been a hot topic for discussion recently, with Taylor stating herself that she had not known about him buying all her previous masters until the news had been put online. Masters are the original, studio-recorded tracks which are released, sold and streamed everywhere.
However, she does hold the creative rights to all her old songs, being the sole or co-songwriter, so she has the full legal capabilities of re-recording her old albums, as she revealed in an interview with Good Morning America. I’m sure her fans cannot wait for the new versions of Swift’s songs. We wonder if she will add new twists to her old classics.
This is an album of firsts, and the ‘You Need To Calm Down‘ video is the first time she has openly, strongly supported LGBTQ+ rights. She has always been a supporter of the LGBTQ+ community, but her song has gained much appreciation and even won her MTV Video Music Awards’ ‘Best Video of the Year’.
‘Lover’ seems to be a turning point in the American queen’s life; after ‘Reputation’, this is a new chapter in her personal life. Speculations are that her relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn has reached new heights and we may be hearing the announcements of their engagement very soon if her new song lyrics are anything to go by-
“I like shiny things, but I’d marry you with paper rings”
“I want to drive away with you, I want your complications too, I want your dreary Mondays”
“Ladies and gentlemen, will you please stand, with every guitar string scar on my hand, I take this magnetic force of a man to be my lover”
“You know I love a London boy, boy I fancy you”

Fans already are already requesting a ‘Lover‘ tour, but with her re-recordings lined up, a tour may not be the first thing on the singer’s mind. However, we are happy she has found her own power move against Braun and that she has finally found her ‘Lover’!
